Why do I feel I doth protest too much about my job handling abilities and realities?? Because ever since I adopted our second child, I "quit" work to stay home. That's when it began--the comments about my spoiled bratedness, my spending of my "husband's money", my easy relaxed way of life. And these comments came from enemies AND friends. One time while Christmas shopping I saw a friend at the mall and we commented on the cute things we had gotten for ourselves as well as our kids. We were wondering how to explain the "selfish" purchases for ourselves and she said, " Well, I tell my kids I work damn hard for the money to buy things for myself, what do you tell yours??" I'm pretty sure I had nothing to say back to her, and it sure hurt my feelings. And it still, to this day hurts my feelings. I've spent 26 years raising "special needs" kids, carting them to countless tutoring appointments, therapy appointments, special schools, groups, doctors. I've helped them get through schools, all the while cooking, cleaning, and , schmoozing clients of my husbands. OK, so now we've got money and my kids are grown; I have a housecleaner once a week, but honestly, I still work! But now it's my own children who tell me I don't work. It's true that sometimes when they call I'm indeed napping or resting, but my God, I'm exhausted from raising them! And it's not over yet!! Yes, I could've been more of a go getter. I could've been the president of the Dyslexia Society instead of a lowly volunteer once a year for the silent auction, I could've invented something or did something truly "work worthy" and not napped, ever! I've got a high IQ and I coulda woulda shoulda, and I live w/the guilt of that. But really, I did work and even now, supported by my over achieving, dashingly handsome and indulgent husband who adores me (SORRY ladies, I know that qualifies me for the "spoiled brat" moniker but I still reject it!) I still do work! I keep a house that is beautiful to look at and more importantly comfortable for people to come to. I host parties (perhaps often times begrudgingly but I do it!) and I still do lots of laundry and other "chores". Doesn't anything count for me?? So I nap when I'm tired, that makes me a total lazebag I guess. Oh well, just saying, just "protesting too much". So hey, when you see me next time, don't call me a spoiled brat, OK?? And don't even think it! (Even though I did use the word "nap" a little too much)

I work, I really do, and I did, I really did
I'm pretty sure my first job at 14 (after babysitting from the age of 13, but babysitting didn't bring an official paycheck so maybe doesn't count) was as a counter girl at an A&W fast food place. Sorry to say, I was fired for giving my best friend a free bag of fries. Hey, I'm not defending that, I just didn't know, at 14 yrs old that it was that wrong, but I learned my lesson about pilfering, that's for sure! After that I found a job at a gas station just outside a Marine Base that hired young female gas attendants. Our dress code was what was then known as "hot pants", halter tops, and go go boots. What a novel concept, sort of like a Hooters only it sold gas instead of hot wings. That guy was desperate to compete w/the cheaper gas prices on the nearby military base, and he was quite successful, actually. It's a good thing one didn't have to have "hooters" (thank god Hooters hadn't been invented yet) to work there, just nice legs I guess or I would've been out, but that's another story. That was hard work! I not only had to put gas in cars and clean windshields, I also had to check oil and put in oil (this involves lifting heavy car hoods and pushing dirty spout things into cans of oil!) All the while putting up w/the lewd references to letting the horny marines put a "tiger in your tank", etc. After that I waitressed (apparently that's not a word but I'm making it one), for years I waitressed, all throughout college and even beyond. It was hard work too! Then I taught elementary school for awhile, then I worked in a retail store in every capacity imaginable, from parking lot sweeper (I really balked at that one since my husband and I owned the store--I thought I was the Queen, above THAT sort of work; didn't go over too well with my husband who fired me for a day for that one), to bookkeeper, buyer, store display, sales, cleaner, clothing designer, sales rep, and everything else it takes to open and operate stores.

Does anyone else know this?
I heard a liberal complaining the other day about how the conservatives are all too happy to have the Feds make a law when it comes to abortion but conservatives say they want to keep the government out of our lives as much as possible. That's exactly wrong, actually. As far as I know, it was the liberals who took the abortion issue and made a Federal case out of it, taking it out of the power of states to decide. Whatever, it's law now; some say sketchy, terrible law, but Federal law nonetheless. I heard Obama on the news today talking about how the days of each state deciding individually about their auto emission standards are going to soon be over. Some talk show hosts are trying to convince us of the non-threat that Obama poses; I think it's wishful thinking on their parts, but we'll see. The Feds, if not stopped will seemingly take over it all! I keep telling myself this isn't so but every single day I see it happening. Does anyone else but me know that the libs want to take away your cars because of the fact that they pollute, and that making fuel for them from drilling for oil pollutes, so the government, in the control of liberals, will now set about to MAKE people stop driving internal combustion engine cars? By hook or by crook. It's like they know conservatives won't willingly give up their gas guzzlers, and by the way, neither will the elite liberals, so they (the libs) are shouting, perhaps metaphorically, "Somebody stop me!" It's not like there is some alternative, as yet, to the cars we have; and I don't think the oil companies are squelching the research, but that's a whole "nuther" topic I guess. It's so sad to see them win, not because I hate to lose, but because it just makes no sense to me that we should NOT use emissions from dead animals for fuel, even if we do have to drill it out of the ground. It seems so much more sensical than growing and using FOOD that we could eat for fuel for machines! It's so much more sensical than going BACKWARDS in time and technology to save the environment when we don't know for certain that it needs saving! I guess I'm so stupid, I'm told so all the time by the press. I sound like Sarah Palin (and we all know what an ignorant hick she is by now) and her supposed comment about how the dinosaurs were a gift by god to power our cars.....I agree with that! I certainly don't think we should grow corn to put in our cars rather than our bodies forgodsakes. The left's slogan was always to "Question Authority" , to distrust government, etc. etc. Geez now they'll do anything they're told, absolutely anything. I guess they're not so "radical" after all....

"I'm comfortable with my sexuality!"
What does that mean, exactly? My daughter bought into it. If teenage "sexting" is to be believed, tons of teenage girls have bought into it. It is a ruse, a trick, if you will. It is a present given to us girls by our feminist forbearers, thanks gals! We became liberated, unlocked our legs and now we've got....what? Pride in our "sexuality"? Pride in our slutiness is actually what is meant. I keep thinking, how could we have done this to ourselves?? Men have been the total recipients of this whole liberation BS! Anything they had to fight for in the past is handed to them on a silver platter, or screen, or bar stool. It drives me crazy to see the young generation of females coming up, totally pornified. Today I saw some very young teen girls at the beach taking pictures of each other doing porn type stuff for the camera. Geez, back in my day (the 70's, no innocent era mind you) we never would've even thought of the poses they were coming up with! We would have smiled for the camera in our bikinis hoping to look "pretty" enough for some boy to want to look at or maybe even ask out on a date, but this is ridiculous! When we took pictures of two friends together, I can assure you we weren't tongue kissing each other so some boy could fulfill some lesbo porn fantasy. Moms, how, why did we let this happen? We are letting our young girls be tricked by this "comfort with my sexuality" crap. So tell me, what does that mean, exactly? I'm going to keep telling myself how normal sex with multiple boys is, until I believe it? Until I'm "comfortable" with this sexuality? Comfortable with being a porn star to all the boys I meet? Comfortable with the shame and rejection that promiscuous behavior inevitably leads to? Is that it Gloria Steinem, et al?? Are ya happy now, our feminist foremothers??? Yeah, so we're out in the workplace, out of the kitchen. Somehow I think we could have done it without slutifying ourselves, but maybe that's just me.

Content of her character?
Help me, I'm so very confused. It seems to me that liberals are THE most conflicted people in the universe. On the one hand, weren't we to see race as a non-thing? The "content of character vs the color of skin"?? So, now, if I don't vote for the Black man, even though I'm a Republican Conservative (actually, for the first time in my adult life, I'm proud to be....a Republican), I'm a racist? I don't even understand why he calls himself a "black" man. Isn't he half white? Why, when searching for an "identity" did he go black? When my daughter (who happens to be half black herself) was thirteen and was entering Jr.High school, I requested a "peer tutor" for her, to ease her transition into middle school. We live in Hawaii, (where, apparently Barack had his identity problems) where there are very few "blacks", but SO WHAT? Her integration into the seventh grade had everything to do w/navigating to her classes on a huge campus, and NOTHING to do w/being black! Her school sought out the ONE black girl in the entire school and made her my daughter's tutor. OK. So what are you saying, Mid Pacific Institute..... that SKIN COLOR will determine acceptance, interests in common, camaraderie??? This is what makes me hate liberalism. It's so RUDE. Like they assumed that my daughter would instantly have something in common w/someone because of the color of their skin?? Am I just too damn smart for this world or what?? And blacks will AUTOMATICALLY vote for anyone who is black? I've read where even evangelical, anti abortion ,born again , blacks cannot help but vote for Obama because he's..... you guessed it. I fully believe there will be hatred and riots such as we have not seen in my generation, if Obama isn't elected. And it's so frustrating because MOST of those on the "right" won't be voting for him because of his left leaning politics (character) not because of the color of his skin! Every day I think, "this is it, I can't take anymore". I want to move away, hide my head in the sand. Where is there to go, however??? Australia? I'm open for suggestions.

Another "divided America" test
Before John McCain's speech on Thursday, my daughter mistakenly came over for a swim with her college friends. Here I am, poised to watch the super bowl of politic junkies such as myself, and she expects me to keep my mouth shut so she won't look uncool by having a flaming conservative, vote for McCain and not Obama, mom?? I mentioned what was coming on the TV to one of her friends, and what can I say, a conversation ensued. He had all the pat answers he had been spoon fed by liberal professors and we got into it a little bit. I told him I had been to college in the 70's and knew all the exact same pap, and tried to put in a little of my own wisdom. He seemed willing to listen, an honest and thoughtful fellow, but unable to truly grasp the concepts of freedom vs slavery, and what can happen if and when a government goes bad. It worried me because he was in agreement with saving some constitutional amendments and not others. The first amendment was of course sacrosanct, but the second one was written too long ago to be relevant, because if individual citizens are allowed to have guns they could shoot themselves or others accidentally and that would be bad, so much so that it would negate any reasoning for having a gun for self defense of any kind. His professors had told him that the police can take care of us. Uh huh. I told him that his argument that some people will die by accidental shootings has nothing to do with whether it may be just and necessary to own a gun in order to shoot to protect oneself or family, or even hunt an animal, and that people can be trained to know how to handle a dangerous object, they do so all the time. He believed that Americans are "too stupid" to know how to handle an object as dangerous as a gun, therefore, the government must be the only one responsible to protect us. Never mind if the government goes bad and their "protection" of us is in actuality subversive. Then he resorted to the well used, "Well, it's too complicated, not black and white" answer, and went for a swim. This young man cannot be blamed for his ignorance. He truly does not know what freedom is, and is ready to give it up, just in case people are too stupid to handle it correctly. I say all this to say that as worried as I was (after speaking with this fellow) about the hearts and minds of our young people, John McCain's speech made me certain that, again, this Presidential race will come down to those "two Americas" we hear so much about, but not to fear. I think it is becoming heavier weighted towards the folks like this young college student, as they have been brainwashed, and have no point of reference for their very freedoms as they are too far removed from any personal experience with any type of mental or physical "slavery", and they disregard the Constitution as a dead letter document. However, their time is not yet. I don't know for how long, but I still believe a majority of our American people are conservative, understand what freedom means, understand the threats to civilization not just America, but the whole world faces in Islamic imperialism, they must know that socialism of the type that Obama leans towards is a failed system. And these are the people that will vote for McCain. But will we be able to convince enough people out there who Obama really is? No one seems to care how far left he actually is, do they just not know it? Or do they refuse to see it or believe it? I saw a poll on the Christianity Today magazine website that said the race is 33% Obama, 63% McCain. Thirty three percent is a lot of Christians voting for Obama (must be the young college students??)
Well, I survived the 70's with my conservatism battered but not dead. I sucked up to my professors and got great grades, but I have to say, in the back of my mind, I knew they were idiots. I hope my young friend figures that out one day as well!

The Liberal Crack Up
Ohmigosh, we're seeing it live, the crack up of the liberal feminist establishment. Will they wake up and smell the damage they're doing to themselves, or will they, like Gustav and Hannah, continue on their track?? So only liberal Democrats can be feminists? That is the question of the hour, and it seems they have answered it in the affirmative with their crazy accusations against Sarah Palin and her decision to seek the Vice Presidency with a large family at home, one of which is, ohmigod, a pregnant CHILD (yeah, a "child" months away from being a full fledged adult)! Listen you jealous bitches--Palin's home and professional life should make you proud; she's done what the women's libbers have preached for years! One woman newscaster was even screaming how, "wait a minute, Palin is supposed to be subservient to her husband and stay at home!!!" Talk about being judgemental, not to mention majorly hypocritical, unhinged, and just plain wrong! I wonder if these women know that not all people who oppose abortion are "Christian"? Neither are Christian women who are "feminists" all lock step Democrats. This thing is a wonder to behold, fascinating indeed, and if they keep it up, they and their message is doomed.

My first blog, look it won't be great, I'm in a hurry to get something, anything on my page so it will look like I wrote something on my blog! Listening to the Michael Medved show today (great show, all should listen!); a caller was trying to defend the "Fairness Doctrine"; something I think has GOT to be indefensible! I've got one word for those people: PORNOGRAPHY. Good grief, the first amendment was created with POLITICAL speech in mind! So to restrict political speech in any way shape or form is horrendous! Look, if I have to be subjected to so much pornography virtually everywhere, then dammit, my "one sided" political views will have no restrictions on them either! How many times have we heard, "Just don't look at it if you don't like it!", well, same here, don't turn on talk radio if you can't stand the offense. Geesh, liberals are absolutely crazy.
